First eight (8) CSF members to sign up, first come/first served

Class Purpose and Description

There are two primary purposes of the class:

  • Teach beginners how to build their own rod

  • Assist CSF members and guests in building a fly rod

The class will begin with the blank, lining it up and identifying which side gets the guides.  There will be various steps following, as described in the details in the following pages, with the final stage being the final coat of thread epoxy, which will be done at the student’s home.

Purchase of Materials

Considering the timeline, it is important to order components as soon as possible.  With this in mind, a sign-up sheet will be available at the November CSF meeting (Tuesday, November 15th).   A form will also be available where students can indicate their preferences for their fly-rods.  This will include length, pieces, line weight, brand, blank color, etc.   Richard currently has 7 blanks available at discounted prices including:

  • Five 5-weight high modulus Pac Bay Atctos blanks, 9' 3" 4-piece: $45 each 

  • One 4-weight TFO Lefty Kreh Professional Series !!  9' 4-piece: $60 

  • One Batson Rainshadow RX6 Unity 3-wt 7' 6" 2-piece $40
